for as long as i can remember, i have wanted to watch a fireworks show take place over water. this year - the first in four that i had the holiday off - i made sure it happened. my best friend and i shared a picnic lunch along the waterfront in portsmouth and enjoyed the fireworks display across the water from norfolk. this night will be one of my most memorable moments of life in virginia.
